In Miami, The Marinas Are At Your Doorstep

South Floridians are a people of the sea. Boat culture is a lifestyle among many. After the Miami International Boat Show and the 32nd Annual Miami Yacht Show, it seems as if South Floridians have been given the boating itch now more than ever, because we are seeing an ever increasing interest in the luxe amenity of a private marina.

130,000 boaters flock to Miami every winter to partake in boating conventions like that of Miami Boating Week, which showcases over 2,000 boats. Those in the world of real estate are trying to target this insatiable love for boat culture into the world of condominiums. Take Una, for starters. This exclusive waterfront tower from world-renowned architectural firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, is now allowing potential buyers full access to its private marina. Among others to jump on the marina train are Fairchild Coconut Grove, Turnberry Ocean Club and Monaco Yacht Club & Residences - all are including private boat marinas on their property.

“The new trend in real estate is all about comfort and the convenience of being able to close the door and leave,” says Ricardo Tabet, CEO of Optimum Development USA, developer of Monaco Yacht Club & Residences. “The condo market is particularly in demand in South Florida, where buyers seek the world-class lifestyle, exceptional amenities, sweeping water views and security the luxury condominium lifestyle affords.

“Now, condo buyers have the unique ability to have their boat docked right at their doorstep, an unparalleled opportunity to celebrate the joie de vivre of Miami Beach.”

Perhaps the most exciting is that of Monaco Yacht Club & Residences. This 12-story property is scheduled for completion for early next year. The 12-slip marina will be able to house yachts up to 55 feet in length. The boats will be given the full hotel treatment with a “yachting concierge” that will offer service for all sailing and fishing excursions to the Florida Keys, the Bahamas or along the South Florida coast. Each boat slip is priced at $350,000.

Tabet is a firm believer in this new innovation and is hopeful that it will bring in more buyers of the boat-loving variety.

“Having received an overwhelming response for our 12 private slips, I wish I had more boat slips to provide our residents,” Tabet says. “There is no doubt [the] next property we develop will feature another private marina.”
